Reading Rakeback Terms Without the Noise

A headline percentage tells you very little. This guide gives you the questions to ask before trusting any rakeback figure.

Start with the calculation method

Identify whether the room uses weighted contributed, dealt rake, a points system, or a hybrid. This determines who benefits most and whether your game type qualifies.

Release triggers and expiry windows

Ask when rakeback is released — weekly, monthly, or only at milestones — and whether unclaimed rakeback expires. Some programmes reset at the end of the calendar month regardless of how much you earned.

Game eligibility scope

Confirm which formats count toward the programme: cash games only, all formats, or specific stakes. A room advertising 40% rakeback that only applies to €0.25/€0.50 cash games is a very different proposition from one that includes tournaments and spin-and-go formats.
